We’re officially in full Christmas mode in our home now, and I’m soaking up every moment of it. The garland is strung everywhere I can manage to hang it. There are little candies in our festive holiday themed bowls. The soy candles that smell like you’re in the middle of a field of Christmas trees, Balsam & Cedar, are constantly burning. And now the smell of an actual Christmas tree is here!
A real Christmas tree has been a part of our holiday celebrations for many years. I can’t imagine a December without the wonderful smell of balsam wafting through our home! And since it’s Clementines first Christmas, continuing our traditions is that much more special and important.
Family traditions have always had a special place in my heart and one of my most cherished is going with my family to pick out our Christmas tree, all together. Everyone gets to look at the tree selection and decide which one we want in our living room, and we usually stop for warm beverages on the way there or back. It’s a special event, beginning our Christmas celebrations.
For the past two years Adam and I have been going with my family to a Tree Farm just outside of our city to choose and cut down our own tree, and this year our little Clementine got to experience it for the first time! Although we unfortunately weren’t able to go with my family, we did get to go with Adams siblings and Clementines cousin, Remy, which was so wonderful and fun!
I love being able to walk through the field, look at all the trees, breathe in the most wonderful smell, and decide which one we want in our home. The place we’ve gone to these past three years is a great family owned business, so you support locals, a small business, get to have a family experience, and they even have hot chocolate and apple cider to sip on in a nice, heated hut, or by a bonfire.
We’ve almost finished decorating our tree and although I have found out this year that I apparently can’t touch it without breaking out in hives, I can’t wait to put those final ornaments on, sit back, and enjoy it.
